PARKING Blesener reported that he reviewed the listing of streets outlined in the RhGULA'CIONS former Public ANorks Directors memo dated July 21, 2000 relative to the posting ofi these streets as no parking. In reviewing that listing, Blesener felt that consideration should be given Yo changing the parking restrictions on the following streets to only one side: Arcade Street (County Road D to Keller Parkway) McMenemy Street (Little Canada Road Yo Viking Drive) Viking Drive (McMenemy Road to Edgerton Street) County 12oad I3-2 (Ed~.;erton Street to Arcade Street) 131esencr further indicated that his feeling is that traffic safety should be the criteria used for making a decision on whether or not to post parking restrictions on a street, not because the street has been designated as part of the ('ity's trail system. Le Valle noted that there will be increased traffic on the City's streets as the result of the Unweave the Weave project. The Administrator felt that project will result in a dramatic increase in traffc on City streets. Allan agreed that only one side of McMenemy Road and Viking Drive needed to be posted as no parking. She suggested that the west side of McMenemy Road be posted no parking and the south side of Viking Drive be posted es no perking. Blesener felt there was the need to post the east side of McMenemy Road in the area of Sextant as no parking to ensure adequate u~afl5c visibility. I<eis asked if 131esener felt there would be a lot of on-street parking on these sweets. Blesener did not feel there would be, but again stated that whether or not to post streets as no parking should be done from a Yraffic safety standpoint and not ti~om a trail standpoint. LaValle felt that any streets that ~n~ill be impacted from the increased tralf c from Unweave the Weave should remain posted as no parking until the completion oi'that project. Allan suggested getting the input from the Parks & Recreation Commission and the Sheritfis Department on this issue. Blesener that he la~ows the Parks & Recreation Commission will recommend retaining the no parking designation <~iven the use of this sheet for on-sheet trails. 8
