MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
APRIL 27, 2005
Allowing parking on one side of the street:
Arcade Street - LaBore to County Road D - no recommendation
as Co which side is restricted;
McMenemy Street -Little Canada Road to Viking Drive -west
side as no parking;
Viking Drive -McMenemy to Edgerton -south side as no
parking.
The Administrator noted that the recommendation also includes that the
parking in front of St. John's Church and School be retained as is, except
adding parking restrictions on the west side of McMenemy from Little
Canada Road to the crosswalk running from the joint parking lot on the
east side of the street to the entrance to the Church. This will improve
visibility at the LC Road and McMenemy intersection.
The Administrator also reported that the Sheriff's Department has
suggested that the City consider resri•icting on-street parking to certain
hours of the day allowing for no overnight on-street parking. This would
reduce the risk to pedestrians after dark.
Blesener agreed, pointing out that a 2 a.m. to 6 a.m. prohibition of on-
street parking would not impact property owners ability to have on-street
parking for visitors, yet restrict on-street parking 24 hours per day.
Blesener suggested that these recommendations be forwarded to the Parks
& Recreation Commission for their reaction.
Allan stated that she agreed with allowing on-street parking on one side of
the street as recommended by City staff. She felt this would protect
pedestrians and still allow property owners flexibility for on-street visitor
parking.
Mr. LaValle introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 2005-4-99 -TABLING ACTION ON THE
PARKING REGULATION RECOMMENDATION PRESENTED BY
CITY STAFF AND REFERRING THE RECOMMENDATION TO
THE PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION FOR THEIR
REACTION
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Montour.
Ayes (5) LaValle, Montour, Allan, Keis, Blesener.
Nays (0).
