1VIINUTiJS <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />AUGUST 24, 2005 <br />Blesener asked about soil conditions. He also asked about landscaping. <br />Burow reported ChaC as one moves to The easC on the siCe, the soils improve. <br />The soils in the area of the proposed addition are good. Burow reported <br />that St. Jude has reCained Savannah Design to do Che landscaping of the <br />site. This firm did the original landscaping which won a national award. <br />Allan asked about the addition of rain gardens. Burow reported that the <br />plan is to add water retention areas within the parking areas to allow for <br />run-off from the parking lots to be absorbed back into the ground. <br />Burow described the elevations for the new addition. He noted that the <br />second floor of the new addition will be 28 feet higher than the existing <br />building. It will be possible to see a portion of this building fiom the <br />35E/36 area. A 1.00 foot setback will be maintained from the edge of the <br />property. <br />Burow reported that the same exterior materials will be used on the new <br />addition as on the current addition. He noted, however, that aluminum <br />panels will be added to portions of the exterior as a design element that <br />adds a higher technology look to the building. <br />The CiCy Planner indicated that the City Code allows for the use of <br />architectural metal as a design element. <br />There was no one present fiom the general public wishing to comment on <br />this matCer. <br />Upon motion by LaValle, seconded by Montour, the public hearing was <br />closed. <br />Mr. LaValle introduced the following resolution and moved iCS adoption: <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2005-8-I87 -APPROVING AN AMENDMENT TO <br />THE PLANNED UNIT DEVELOPMENT TO ALLOW AN <br />APPROXIMATELY 88,000 SQUARE FOOT ADDITION TO THE <br />EXISTING ST. DUDE MEDICAL, INC. FACILITY SUBJECT TO <br />COMPLIANCE WITH THE RECOMMENDATIONS OP THE CITY <br />PLANNER AND THE CITY ENGINEER <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Keis. <br />Ayes (5). <br />Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. <br />Burow anticipated that construction would commence within the next two <br />weeks. <br />
