MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />OCTOBER 12, 2005 <br />GERVAIS The Council reviewed the City Engineer's report relative Co the Gervais <br />HILLS Hills grading plan revisions. The Engineer felt that the changed proposed <br />GRADING were improvements to the plan, and recommended approval subject to the <br />PLAN review and approval by the Watershed as well as subject to his approval. <br />Keis asked if additional trees will be lost as a result of the grading plan <br />changes. The City Administrator reported that he did not believe <br />additional trees were impacted, but would verify this with the City <br />Engineer. <br />Mr. LaValle introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2005-IO-242 -APPROVING THE CHANGES TO <br />THE GERVAIS HILLS GRADING PLAN SUBJECT TO APPROVAL <br />OP THE CITY ENGINEER AND THE RAMSEY-WASHINGTON <br />METRO WATERSHED DISTRICT <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Montour. <br />Ayes (5). <br />Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. <br />CITY The City Administrator reviewed the October 6, 2005 report of the Parks <br />CENTER & Recreation Director relative to roof replacement of the City Center. <br />ROOF The Administrator noted that the roof on the east side of the building has <br />REPAIR had a problem with ice dams and leaks for the past few years. The roof on <br /> the west end of the building has now begun to leak. <br />The Building Official has inspected the roof and noted that the shingles <br />are aged and cracked over the City Center portion of the building and are <br />in need of replacement. The roof over the Historical Society addition was <br />put on in 1998 and Che Building Official has determined there are 5 to 7 <br />years of life left in that portion of the roof. Given the eventual problems <br />with matching shingle color and the fact that there is only a $2,500 <br />additional cost in doing the entire roof, it is staff's recommendation that <br />the entire roof be replaced at this time. The City Administrator reviewed <br />and updated the proposals from the two contractors who submitted bids. <br />Keis noted that staff is looking at some window replacement for the City <br />Center building. He asked if there was a way to bundle the scope of work <br />together to realize additional cost savings. Blesener did noC feel there was <br />enough work that would result in any economies of scale savings. <br />Council asked how the bidders were solicited. The City Administrator <br />noted that requests for proposals were sent to several contractors with two <br />
