MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />JULY 22, 2015 <br />facilities. The plan should be finalized by early next year and will then be <br />submitted to the County Board for action. <br />SPOONER The City Administrator reported that the City has budgeted $65,000 in its <br />PARK Capital Improvement Budget for repaving of trails in Spooner Park. The <br />TRAIL trails in question run from the park shelter east along the south side of <br />WORK Gilbertson Field to the storage garage by the elementary school and then <br />south to the tennis court area. The plan would be to repaved or overlaid <br />these trails to their current 4 1/2 feet width. The Administrator reported <br />that the City has obtained two quotes for this work, one from Buck <br />Blacktop in the amount of $13,860.00 and the other from T. A. Schifsky in <br />the amount of $14,850.30. The Administrator indicated that the work can <br />be done prior to the Canadian Days Celebration. <br />McGraw introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2015-7-151— AWARDING THE QUOTE OF <br />BUCK BLACKTOP IN THE AMOUNT OF $13,860 FOR <br />PAVING/OVERLAY OF SPOONER PARK TRAILS <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Keis. <br />Ayes (5). <br />Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. <br />694 -RICE Keis reported that he and the City Administrator met with representatives <br />STREET of Ramsey County, the Cities of Shoreview and Vadnais Heights, and <br />BRIDGE State Legislators on the 694 -Rice Street bridge about legislation in the <br />upcoming session to get this bridge replaced and explore ways to move <br />this project forward. The Administrator noted that there was discussion <br />about the possibility of advancing dollars to get the design work done. <br />The County felt that help to move the project forward coordinating it with <br />the Corridors of Commerce Project. That project calls for the <br />improvement of 694 to three lanes each direction from Rice Street to <br />Lexington Avenue. The County estimated the design work costs at <br />$600,000, which would be shared by the County and the Cities of Little <br />Canada, Shoreview and Vadnais Heights based on the applicable <br />quadrants in each jurisdiction. It was pointed out that every other bridge <br />in the area but this one has been redone. Keis noted that if the bridge is <br />not replaced, there will only be 2 feet of separation from the edge of the <br />widened highway to the bridge abutment. <br />15 <br />
