Resolution declared adopted.
The City Administrator reviewed the City Engineer's report dated August
21, 2015 outlining estimated costs associated with powerline relocation/
replacement along Centerville Road. The Administrator noted that at the
City's request, Xcel Energy has looked at the need for poles on both sides
of the road, with the potential to combine the Xcel Energy and Century
Link utilities to poles on only one side of the road. The Administrator
indicated that the initial estimate for the work was $90,000. Xcel is now
estimating this cost at about $200,000. Xcel has indicated that to obtain a
true estimate, the City would have to make a non-refundable deposit of
$5,000 for a more detailed review.
The Council discussed the options available for the powerlines along
Centerville Road as well as resulting tree impacts. Based on this
discussion, the consensus was to not move forward with burying of
powerlines along Centerville Road or the relocation of all lines to one side
of the street.
McGraw introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 2015-8-172 — DECLARING THE COUNCIL'S
POSITION TO NOT MOVE FORWARD WITH THE BURYING OF
POWERLINES ALONG CENTERVILLE ROAD OR WITH THE
RELOCATION OF POWERLINES TO ONE SIDE OF THE STREET
GIVEN COST AS WELL AS TREE IMPACTS
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Keis.
Ayes (4).
Nays (0).
