MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
MAY 2G, 2004
Pat Conway, Burke Lane, noted the discussion for a trail connection
utilizing Nadeau Road right-of--way. Conway indicated that this walkway
would be on the side of her property. Conway stated her objection to the
walkway improvement and informed the Council that the property owners
on Burke Lane do not want it.
Fahey pointed out the difficulty of balancing community needs with
individual needs. Fahey felt that the trail connection would serve the
greater good.
Conway noted that the neighborhood request had been for a playground
area and not a walkway connection. Fahey noted that the Park
Commission has evaluated the issue and their recommendation is in
support of the trail connection.
Elaine Zoch, Condit Street, pointed out that right-of--way for Condit Street
came from her side of the street. She suggested that the additional Condit
Street right-of--way needed south of Yorkton Ridge come from the east
side of the street rather than the west. Zoch also suggested that some of
the right-of=way needed for Nadeau Road come from the property to the
south.
Fahey pointed out that where the Condit Street right-of--way is taken is a
question of street alignment. Fahey also noted that it appears the existing
30 feet of Nadeau Road right-of--way already came from the property to
the south of the Miller property.
Zoch suggested that the Nadeau Road pavement be pushed further south
within the right-ofway when it is improved, thus placing the street further
from the Miller house.
Blesener indicated that it may be possible to offset the pavement to some
degree, but not for the entire distance.
David Sybert, Burke Lane, agreed with the comments made by Pat
Conway indicating that the Burke Lane neighborhood is not interested in a
trail connection to the Water Works property.
The City Administrator indicated that the Parks & Recreation Commission
has looked at this option and has recommended that the City Engineer
explore the various trail connection options and report back to the
Commission. A final decision has not been made on the matter. The City
Administrator suggested that the Park Commission will be holding a
neighborhood meeting on the issue at the time the City Engineer has
completed his report.
7
