MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />JULY 28, 2004 <br />COMPRE- <br />IIENSIVE <br />SIGN PLAN - <br />THE LODGE <br />LaValle opened the public hearing to consider fhe Comprehensive <br />Sign Plan for The Lodge. It was noted that the Planning <br />Commission recommended approval of the Sign Plan <br />The City Planner indicated that The Lodge is proposing the addition of <br />monument signs for the residential potion of the property. The sign plan <br />submitted meets the City's guidelines and is under the square footage of <br />total signage allowed. <br />There was no one present from the general public wishing to comment on <br />this matter. <br />Upon motion by Blesener, seconded by Montow', the public hearing was <br />closed. <br />Montour noted that "I'he Lodge is a beautiful development and high quality <br />materials were used in its construction. Montour expressed concern with <br />the quality of materials proposed for the monument signs and also <br />expressed concern with the use of the City's logo on the signage. <br />Mr. Blesener introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />RESY)/. UTK)N NO. 2004-7-160 - TAI31_ING ACTION ON THE <br />COMPREHENSIVL' SIGN P].AN FOR THE J_ODGR AND <br />/NSTlZIICTING CITY S'%AFF %'O WORK WITH THE DE'VGLOPER <br />ON THIS bS,SUES RAT.SED RELATIVE TO THLS'.S'ICNAGL <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Montour. <br />Ayes (4) Blesener, Montour, LaValle, Anderson. <br />Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. <br />ZONING iJSE LaValle noted receipt of the zoning use study relative to gun stores <br />STUDY as a principal use that was prepared by the City Planner, Sheriff's <br />RELATIVE TO Department, and City staff. LaValle pointed out that based on the <br />GUN STORES results of a survey conducted of neighboring cities, it appears that <br />AS A .P.i21NCIPAL about half the cities allow gun stores as a principal use while half <br />USE do not. LaValle asked Mr. Kennedy if he was comfortable with the <br />recommendations of the Sheriff's Department with regard to security. <br />Kuirt Kennedy, Kennedy Arms Company, indicated that he was agreeable <br />to the recommendations except questioned the need for a video system. <br />Blesener noted that based on the results of the survey showing that not all <br />cities allow gun stores as a principal use, he was comfortable with the <br />12 <br />
