MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
DECEMBER I5, 2004
community. Finally, Fahey thanked his wife and family for allowing him
the time to serve the City.
'Blesener stated that he was remembering back to when he first served on
the Council 20 years ago when Fahey began his first teen as Mayor. In
reviewing Mayor Fahey's accomplishments during that time, Blesener
recalled the direction that Fahey set for the industrial park development
that ocewred along Centerville Road and preventing low valued industrial
development in that area. Blesener also noted that prior to Mayor Fahey's
service to Little Canada, the City did not own one piece of parkland and
had been leasing Spooner Park from the School District. Since that time,
the City now owns Spooner Park, Pioneer Park, Gervais Mi11 Park, and
several neighborhood parks and trail systems. Blesener pointed out that it
was the foresight, vision, and determination of Mayor Fahey that has
improved the quality of life in Little Canada. Blesener thanked Mayor
Fahey for his service to the community on behalf of the entire Council and
himself.
Fahey indicated that everything that has been accomplished was due to the
actions of the entire city Council as a team and not just one individual.
Fahey stated that it has been easy to lead the City as Mayor given the
focus of the entire Council and City staff to get t}~e job done. Fahey stated
that he is very confident in the new Mayor, the City Council, and City
staff.
RANISEY Mayor Fahey welcomed Commander George Altendorfer of the'Ramsey
COUNTY County Sheriff's Department to assist in a presentation recognizing
SHERIFF'S members of the Department who were instrumental in solving the Thomas
DEPARTMENT Cady homicide that occurred in Little Canada.
Commander Altendorfer indicated that he is present this evening to
recognize the Ramsey County ,Deputies who, through their hard work,
solved the "fhonris Cady homicide that occurred in Little Canada just over
a year ago. Altendorfer indicated that the Depa~-Cment's thoughts are with
the Cady Family in their loss. He repoiied that ahhough the murder
occurred in Little Canada, the location was random. Altendorfer indicated
that violent crime is a rarity in the cities that contract with the Ramsey
County Sheriff's Department. However, when these crime do occw-, the
County's General Investigation Unit has been very successful in solving
these crimes. Altendorfer commended the entire Investigation Unit for
their hard work.
Commander Altendorfer introduced those deputies present this evening.
"they include Deputy Tom Rudenick, Deputy Tom Paget, and Deputy
Gary Gibbs.
Z
