MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />JANUARY 21, 2003 <br />Upon motion by Blesener, seconded by Anderson, the public hearing was <br />closed. <br />Anderson recommended that the spacing of street lighting be greater than <br />what exists on Little Canada Road. The Council agreed with that <br />recommendation. <br />Mr. Blesener introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2003-I-73 -ORDERING IMPROVEMENT NO. <br />2001-I8, MARKET PLACE DRIVE, AS WELL. AS PREPARATION OF <br />PI ANS <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Anderson. <br />Ayes (4) Blesener, Anderson, Fahey, Montour. <br />Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. <br />IMP. NO. Mayor Fahey opened the public hearing to consider the improvement of <br />2000-17 Sextant Avenue by water main installation as well as road improvements <br />SEXTANT consisting of reconstructed road surface, concrete curb and gutter, and <br />AVENUE drainage enhancements. <br />The City Engineer reviewed the project in detail noting that the total <br />estimated cost is $287,500, and of that amount approximately $50,731 is <br />proposed to be assessed. The Engineer noted the water main portion of <br />the assessment is proposed at $5,443 per lot and the street assessment is <br />proposed at $5,791.80 per lot. This estimate was increased slightly for <br />inflation from what was proposed in 2002. <br />The Engineer noted that this improvement had been ordered <br />approximately one year ago. However, only one bid was received for the <br />improvement, and that bid exceeded the Engineer's estimate significantly. <br />Therefore, the project was delayed. It is hoped that rebidding the project <br />on an earlier timeframe will result in a more favorable bid result. <br />Mr. Skipon asked if the specific construction suggestions made by the <br />neighborhood last year would be considered. The City Engineer replied <br />that they would and suggested that the property owners fee( free to discuss <br />specific issues with the project inspection during the construction phase of <br />the project. <br />Skipon asked if the improvement would extend all the way to McMenemy. <br />The City Engineer replied that it would. He noted that the street will still <br />have a slight curve to it and that the street would be flattened at its <br />
