Resolution declared adopted.
SEWER & The City Administrator reported that City staff has reviewed the Sewer
WATER RATES and Water Funds, and the recommendation is for no increase in water rates
and an almost 9% increase in sewer rates. The Administrator pointed out
that he is currently renegotiating rates that the City pays St. Paul for water.
He also noted that the addition of Schroeder Milk on the City water
system results in an increase in usage that brings down the rate that Little
Canada pays St. Paul Therefore, there is no need to increase water rates.
With regard to the Sewer Fwrd, the Administrator reported the Fund has
been operating at a deficit. Sewer rates were last raised in 1998. Staff is
recommending an almost 9% increase in the sewer rate. He noted that
even with the increase proposed, Little Canada's sewer rate will be
competitive with those of neighboring communities. The Administrator
further noted that staff is not recommending an increase in the minimum
charge; therefore, lower volume users will not be impacted by the rate
increase. The sewer rate would increased from $2.31 per thousand gallons
to $2.50 per thousand gallons. The Administrator further noted that staff
is proposing that the sewer rate for multiple family dwellings would be
4
