MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />JUNE 24, 2003 <br />There was no one from the general public present wishing to comment on <br />this matter. <br />Upon motion by Blesener, seconded by Anderson, the public hearing was <br />closed. <br />Mr. Blesener introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />RESOI.UTIONNO. 2003-6-128-APPROVING: THE CONDITIONAL, <br />USE PERMIT TO ALLOW THE OUTDOOR SALES OF PRODUCE <br />IN THE MARKET PLACE SHOPPING CENTER PARKING LOT AT <br />2900 RICE STREET AS REQUESTED I3Y MR. ED STAFKI <br />SU73JECT TO COMPLIANCE WITH THE RECOMMENDATIONb' <br />OF THE CITY PL ANNER AS OUTLINED IN HIS REPORT DATED <br />,TUNE 4, 2003 <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Fahey. <br />Ayes (4) Blesener, Fahey, Anderson, Montour. <br />Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. <br />CUP - Mayor Fahey opened the public hearing to consider a request for <br />2900 RICE Conditional Use Permit to allow the sale of fireworks from a tent in the <br />STREET - Market Place Shopping Center parking lot as requested by FW Shreveport. <br />TW It was noted that the Planning Commission recommended approval of the <br />SHREVEPORT CUP subject to compliance with the recommendations of the City Planner <br /> and Fire Chief, conditioned that a fireworks sales license remain in place <br /> each year in conjunction with the CUP, subject to all signage for the <br /> fireworks sales be attached to the tent itself, and subject to future <br /> relocation of the tent in response to any parking concerns that may arise. <br />Bill Hurst, FW Shreveport, indicated that they are agreeable to all the <br />conditions outlined by the Planning Commission. <br />Blesener indicated that a tenant of the shopping center informed him of <br />parking problems which occurred last Saturday evening noting that there <br />was a reception at My Le Hoa Chinese Restaurant in addition to a bingo <br />session at the Little Canada Bingo Hall. As a result, the parking lot was <br />quite full. Blesener indicated that with the various CUP's being requested <br />for the parking lot area as well as the construction that is currently <br />underway, he was concerned about parking. Blesener stated, however, <br />that he was willing to try the fireworks sales tent this year and see how the <br />parking works at the shopping center. <br />
