MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
NOVEMBER 12, 2003
Blesener indicated that he could understand Mr. Inman's desire to have the
street named Inman Place. He indicated that he would likely support the
request if the street did not lineup exactly with Allen Avenue.
Anderson indicated that while he is sympathetic to the applicant who is
putting in the road at his own cost, the road is for his benefit. Anderson
stated that he agreed that to name the street Inman Place would be
confusing since it lines up with Allen Avenue. Anderson felt that a
monument sign would be a better idea.
Inman asked about placement of a monument sign. The City
Administrator indicated that the Code allows for placement in the right-of-
way by license agreement with the City.
Blesener stated that he understands the arguments presented by Mr.
Inman, but pointed out that the Sheriff has made some good arguments as
well. Blesener felt it was a better long-range plan to name the street Allen
Avenue. LaValle agreed and pointed out that a monument sign would be
an impressive statement.
Blesener introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RF.b'O7. UTION NO. 2003-I I-259 -DENYING THE REQUEST TOR
THE RENAMING OF AI_L EN AVENUE 73ETWEEN GREENI3RIER
AND LEEWARD WAY TO INMAN PL ACE
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Anderson.
Ayes (4) Blesener, Anderson, LaValle, Montour.
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
ANNUAL George Altendorfer, Ramsey County Sheriff's Department, appeared
SHERIFF'S before the Council and presented crime and call statistics for Little
REPORT Canada. Altendorfer reviewed in detail a Crimes Investigated Report as
well as a Calls for Service Report. It was noted that, for the most part, the
numbers reflected in these reports have remained fairly stable over the
past three years.
Altendorfer invited the Council and the general public to an open house
for the new Law Enforcement Center to be held on Saturday, November
22"`{. He further reported that the County Board has approved the
construction of a new patrol station in Arden Hills alongside the County's
new public works facility.
