MINUTES
PLANNING COMMISSION
AUGUST 14, 2003
review and approval by the Building Official relative to compliance with
accessibility requirements.
Motion seconded by Weihe.
Motion carried 3 - 0.
QUORUM At this point in the meeting, 7:45 p.m., Scott Barraclough arrived.
Therefore, the Planning Commission now has a quorum.
AMENDMENT Patrick O'Brien, U-Save Auto Rental and Cruise America, appeared
TO CUP - before the Commission requesting an amendment to a CUP to allow
2608 RICE him to operate an RV rental business from his current location at 2608
STREET - Rice Street. It was noted that O'Brien's original CUP is for the operation
U-SAVE AUTO of a passenger automobile rental business. That CUP limited the number
RENTAL of passenger automobiles that can be parked on site to four.
O'Brien reported that the RV rental business would operate primarily from
May through September. He would have 15 RV units for rent, and these
units would not be stored on the 2608 Rice Street property, but on the
property immediately to the east. The RV's would be brought to the Rice
Street site for pick-up by customers. Customers would return the RV's to
the Rice Street site where they would then be cleaned up and returned to
the storage site to the east (the Rustad property, formerly Frattalone
property, along Park Street but accessed from County Road C).
Duray asked how many RV's would be stored on the Rustad property?
O'Brien replied that at most there would be 15 RV's stored on the Rustad
property at one time. However, once the RV rental season is essentially
over, approximately October ls`, there would be only 8 RV's stored on this
property. O'Brien indicated that when the RV's are on the Rice Street
site, they are kept in the back and out of the way of other tenants of the
strip mall. There may be 2 to 3 RV's on the Rice Street site at any given
time either waiting to be picked up by customers or havingjust been
returned by customers.
Wojcik reviewed the City Planner's report noting that the Rustad property
is zoned B-3, therefore, outdoor storage is not a permitted use of this
property. O'Brien indicated that he checked with the landlord prior to
storing the RV's on this site and was not informed that there would be a
problem with the outdoor storage.
-2-
