MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
AUGUST 24, 2016
noted that the applicant has indicated that screening would be added to
ensure that any outdoor storage is not visible from the street.
The Associate Planner stated that this would be a new classification in the
I -P zoning code, and Staff has drafted language that is specific to
emergency vehicle sales and outfitting services only so that the use could
not be expanded or interpreted to include regular vehicle sales. She noted
that an annual city license would be created and required. Staff believes
this would be a low impact use to the industrial area, and compatible with
the I -P, Industrial Park District intent.
Bob Haselman, Everest Emergency Vehicles, stated they are doing final
equipment installs on new vehicles, and the crashed vehicles would have
additional work needs but would likely not be outside. Fischer asked about
the repairs they would do. Mr. Haselman stated that electrical repairs are
90 percent of what his company fixes on emergency vehicles. He
explained that about 20 vehicles will fit inside this building, and most
emergency vehicles must be stored indoors while being worked on. He
stated a fence will be installed around the rear yard with the appropriate
screening. The Associate Planner clarified that the outdoor storage is only
for operable vehicles, and all inoperable vehicles must be stored inside.
There was no one present from the general public wishing to comment on
this matter.
Upon motion by Keis, seconded by McGraw, the public hearing was
closed.
McGraw introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION 2016-8-136 - APPROVING A TEXT AMENDMENT TO
ADD EMERGENCY VEHICLE SALE/STORAGE LOT WITH
ANCILLARY OUTFITTING SER VICES AS A CONDITIONAL USE
TO THE IP, INDUSTRIAL PARK, ZONING CODE, AS PRESENTED
IN THE STAFF REPORT.
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Fischer.
Aye (4).
Nays (0).
