STAFF REPORT

TO: Mayor Keis and Members of City Council

FROM: Bill Dircks, Public Works Director

DATE: September 22, 2016

RE: Replacement of Window Frames, Windows, and Doors at Demont Ice Rink Shelter

The City budgeted funds for replacement of the window frames, windows, and doors at the Demont Ice
Rink shelter. The windows are foggy and the window frames and doors are rusting. Quotes were
received from three companies. The results are below:

Capital City Glass - $13,120
Door Service Company - $13,871
Northern Glass & Glazing - $14,995

Capital City Glass has done work for the City in the past and has always performed well.

The work was budgeted for in the 2016 capital improvement budget. It was estimated that the work
would cost $10,000 so the actual price is $3,120 higher than the budgeted number. The work needs to
be done on the building and there doesn’t appear to be any way to lower the cost. Staff recommends
that the City Council award the job to Capital City Glass for $13,120.
