MINUTES
PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION
September 8, 2016
9. Spooner Park entrance monument sign at Centerville Rd and Eli Road
- $17,250

Sanders estimated the cost of a wooden sign with masonry columns to
be around $17,250. He thought it would be best to make the structure
significant and similar to the sign in front of the park currently.

10. Replacement of lower shelter at Spooner Park, run water and sewer -
$419,750

Sanders explained he would like to see the Lower Shelter be upgraded
to more closely match the Upper Shelter. He explained restrooms
could be added. Sanders continued the renovation would cost $150 per
square foot. He also mentioned running utilities to the shelter would
cost about $50,000. Chair Miller explained the Commission had
thought about the usage of this area thoroughly and the high costs
associated with the project would need to be examined more closely to
see if this fit into the long term plan and budget.

11. Install trail - Country Drive & South Owasso loop along waterworks
trail $241,500

Sanders presented an option to create a loop around the waterworks
trail to lengthen and extend the path. The Director explained this
would better connect the trail with Rondeau Park. Sanders noted this
would be an off street connection and would cost approximately $50
per linear foot.

12. Pioneer Park – install a flag pole with lighting at entrance - $6,900

Sanders explained this would be a basic flagpole installation complete
with lighting and may require some landscaping.

13. Pioneer Park – install new drinking fountain near tennis courts -
$23,000

Sanders explained the drinking fountain would be constructed near the
play area and tennis courts. Chair Miller indicated he would like to see
this item higher on the prioritization list. The Director asked if there
was available money in the 2016 budget for this project. The City
Administrator explained there was money budgeted for this project in
2015, but estimates came in considerably higher than the budgeted
amount and the money was not carried forward to the 2016 budget.

14. Repurpose the hockey rink by middle school into a multi-functional
dog park - $3,450
