MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />OCTOBER 26, 2016 <br />water resources, but the increase in development over the last few decades <br />is putting more pressure on water supplies and quality. <br />PRESENTATION: Roseville School District Superintendent Dr. Aldo Sicoli stated that he <br />ROSEVILLE wanted to share some things that are happening in the district. He <br />SCHOOL explained that they are in the middle of a long range facilities plan. He <br />DISTRICT stated the district has some space challenges due to the increasing <br />SUPERIN- enrollment over the last several years, which is projected to continue to <br />TENDENT grow, along with more space needed for the all day kindergarten and more <br />DR. ALDO SICOLI participation in Pre -K programs. He explained that committees have been <br />established, and with the help of a contractor, they started by looking at the <br />physical conditions and how the buildings are being used. <br />Dr. Sicoli explained that the district has also been figuring out how to <br />better tap into their committed community. He stated they are launching a <br />"Partners for the Future" initiative with help from R.T. Rybak, President of <br />The Minneapolis Foundation, on November 15tH He noted there is more <br />information about this event and the initiative on the ISD 623 website. He <br />stated the district is looking to increase community participation with <br />elementary school one on one reading with students, mentoring students in <br />grades 5-8, and partnerships with local businesses to provide job <br />shadowing, internships, and learning about business industries <br />opportunities for students. <br />Montour asked about the Harambee school and what the future of that <br />building is. Dr. Sicoli stated that the district will continue to need the <br />building and it is a thriving elementary school now. He explained that it <br />used to be a state run school, but they got out of the school business, and <br />the Roseville School District then got the building since it was located in <br />their district. Montour stated that the City values the partnership the City <br />has with the district in using their facilities for our programming events. <br />PUBLIC <br />The Associate Planner stated that Darlene Herkenhoff is the property <br />HEARING — <br />owner of 2954 Edgerton, and has a shared driveway with the property to <br />VARIANCE FOR <br />the south. She noted that Ms. Herkenhoff only has a single car garage, and <br />A DRIVEWAY <br />her share of the driveway width matches the garage. She stated that Ms. <br />TURNAROUND <br />Herkenhoff is requesting a variance to allow an oversized 24 foot by 20 <br />AT 2954 <br />foot driveway turnaround that is 13'6" from the street. She explained that <br />EDGERTON ST., <br />Ms. Herkenhoff currently owns this property and the lot to the south, which <br />APPLICANT: <br />she is in the process of selling. She stated that the two properties share a <br />DARLENE <br />driveway, and Ms. Herkenhoff has been able to use both driveways to <br />HERKENHOFF <br />maneuver in and out of her single -car garage. She explained that with the <br />circumstances changing, she is requesting a variance for a turnaround size <br />2 <br />
