STAFF REPORT

TO: Mayor Keis and Members of City Council

FROM: Joel Hanson, City Administrator

DATE: October 21, 2016

RE: Demolition Quotations

Quotes will be obtained for the demolition of the four houses and out buildings located at the
following addresses:

• 331 Little Canada Road
• 2801 Country Drive
• 56 Little Canada Road
• 30 Little Canada Road

As has been previously discussed the work will also include removal of all structure components
below grade, removal of asphalt/concrete drives and walks, fill of all excavations and some
clearing and grubbing activities. We are coordinating this work with the regrading of 331 Little
Canada Road to accommodate the parking lot expansion for the fire department given the excess
material that site will generate.

Quotes should be received in early November. To improve our chances of having this work
completed by year end, we should approve the award of the work before our meeting of
November 16th. That could occur in one of two ways. First, we could call a special meeting for
Wednesday, November 8th to review the tabulation and award the quote. Or, the Council could
give the staff the authority to award to the lowest priced responsible contractor after sending the
tabulation out via e-mail to each of you for review. We would then ratify the award at our
meeting of the 16th. The Council can choose the method you are most comfortable with.
