MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
FEBRUARY 22, 2017
could potentially be developed, and it would not be removed from the
plan. He noted that if the project got to the platting stage, that is when the
ghost lots would be removed and another public hearing process occurs.
Torkelson asked how the development by the Lincoln Group would affect
the City's plans for the connection to the Cherry Hill development or for
the Himmelbach property. The City Administrator explained that when
Cherry Hill Lane went in, the long term plan was to connect Cherry Hill
Lane with Kohlman Lane, but there are other properties that need to be
included for that to occur. He noted that in an ideal world, this area would
all be developed together, but the City has no control over that.
The City Planner asked the Council if the updated plan should go back to
the Planning Commission for review of this revised plan, and how much
more work should the developer do on this updated plan, and what other
information would the Council want to see. Keis asked if the property
would need to be rezoned to PUD in order to have the smaller lots. The
City Planner stated that it would likely end up being a Planned Unit
Development since the City does not have a zoning designation for
smaller single family lots. Fischer stated that the Council should first
determine if the 55 foot wide lots are acceptable before sending this plan
on for more review. The Council agreed that this should go back to the
Planning Commission to review the updated plan, and the developer
should provide sketches of the house style and how the layout would look.
Upon motion by McGraw, seconded by Fischer, the public hearing was
closed.
PURCHASE OF A Tim Boss, Assistant Fire Chief explained that there was a committee that
NEW PUMPER worked on the pumper truck proposal. The City Administrator stated that
TRUCK FOR THE the City has established a fire equipment replacement fund that currently
LITTLE CANADA has about $1,100,000 in it. He explained that the truck would cost
FIRE $636,786 if the City pays the whole cost upfront, which would save about
DEPARTMENT 4%. He noted that there is about $60,000 in additional equipment needed
which brings the total cost to $702,286. McGraw explained that the
additional costs needed are for updating equipment.
Keis introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTIONNO. 2017-2-28 —APPROVING $702,286 FOR A NEW
PUMPER TRUCK FOR THE LITTLE CANADA FIRE
DEPARTMENT.
0
