MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />MAY 10, 2017 <br />UPDATE FOR The Parks & Recreation/Community Services Manager reported that Staff <br />MOVIE IN THE is looking at new program ideas, and a movies in the park event was <br />PARK suggested, and could be held at the Spooner Park band shell. He noted <br />that the quotes are about $1,400-$2,000 for each movie showing. The <br />Parks & Recreation Commission had suggested doing the event two times <br />on Thursday nights, and holding it later in August when dusk is earlier. <br />Fischer stated it is a new idea and worth trying. <br />McGraw introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />RESOL UTION NO.2017-5-82 —APPROVING UP TO $4,000 FOR <br />TWO MOVIE IN THE PARK EVENTS <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Fischer. <br />Ayes (5). <br />Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. <br />UPDATE FOR The Parks & Recreation/Community Services Manager reported that <br />DOG PARK adding a dog park to an ice rink during the summer months is an idea that <br />OPTIONS the Parlcs & Recreation Commission has been talking about. He explained <br />that Staff and the Commission have determined what would need to be <br />done in order to get this accomplished. He noted that the Commission <br />suggested adding benches, only being open sunrise to sunset, and possibly <br />having a water source. He stated that no costs have been determined yet, <br />but they should be minimal; primarily just fencing, benches and signs. <br />The Manager explained that the dog park would close in the fall since the <br />grass is sprayed to kill it before the ice goes in, and it would become a <br />mess if it was used with no grass. The City Administrator stated the <br />budget is $3,450, and there should be no problem doing it for that amount. <br />McGraw suggested also having paper copies of the rules available at the <br />dog park in the beginning for people to take. Fischer noted that the Parks <br />& Recreation Commission has spent a considerable amount of time talking <br />about this and he likes that new ideas are being tried. <br />McGraw introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTIONNO. 2017-5-83 —APPROVING STAFF TO PROCEED <br />WITH CREATING A DOG PARKAT THE DEMONT AVENUE ICE <br />RINK, WITH BENCHES, TEMPORARY FENCING, SIGNS AND <br />BROCHURES FOR A COST UP TO $3,450 <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Fischer. <br />Ayes (5). <br />Nays (0).
