M~INUTLS <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />FGBRUARI' 13, 2002 <br />RESOL UTU)N NO. 2002-2-25 - TENTATNEI_ Y SELECTING' METRO <br />PI,AIMS AS DEVELOPER OF TfIE SOUTHEAST CORNER OF RICE <br />.STREET AND LITTLE CANADA ROAD, AND CONT/NUING THE <br />WORKSHOP MEETING TO MONDAY, FEBRUARY 78, 2002 AT 6 P.M. <br />TO CONTINUE. TIIE INTERVIEW OF METRO PLAINS <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Montow. <br />Ayes (5) Fahey, Montour, Scalze, Anderson, LaValle. <br />Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. <br />WORKSHOP The City Administrator reviewed the development options presented by the <br />ON MA~RKL"1' owners of the Market Place Shopping Center. He noted their efforts to <br />PLACE comply with the City's architectural guidelines, however, noted that none <br />DEVELOPMENT of the options presented totally meets these guidelines. <br />PROPOSAL <br />LaValle pointed out that the options shoe a 76 unit senior apartment building, <br />and questioned if the owners of Market Place are under the impression that the <br />City would approve this. The City Adminish~ator reported that {te informed the <br />owners that their senior concept did not appear to be feasible especially in light <br />of the addition that Common Bond is planning for Garden Terrace. <br />The Council discussed the fact that given the point that the City is in its <br />redevelopment process, they were not willing to back off from the <br />redevelopment guidelines However, the Council was willing to hear from the <br />owners of the Market Place as to their rational for the options they put <br />together. <br />Mr_ Fahey introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />RESOI_ UTION NO. 2002-2-26 - C'AI_/.ING A WORK.SIIOP MEETING <br />FOR WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 27, 2002 AT 7 P.M. TO REVIEW TITS <br />MARKET PLACE DEVELOPMENT OPTIONS <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by LaValle. <br />Ayes (5) ['ahoy, LaValle, Montour, Scalze, Anderson. <br />Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. <br />2002 I3UDGE'T The City Administrator reviewed his report relative to the impact that the <br />ISSUES Governor's proposed cuts in local aids could have on the City's budget. The <br />Administrator anticipated that the impact could be $40,000 on the 2002 <br />Budget. He pointed out, however, that this situation is still evolving. The <br />Administrator reported that he will review the 2002 F3udget to determine what <br />cuts can be made if local aid is cut. The Adminisuator also indicated that he <br />
