MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
JUNE 28, 2017
STREET SEAL The City Administrator stated that the Public Works Director sent out bids
COATING BIDS for seal coating the city streets and received quotes from Allied Blacktop
for $0.939 per square yard and Pearson Brothers for $1.08 per square yard.
He explained that based on the approximately 48,000 yards scheduled to
be seal coated, the total cost will be around $45,125. He noted that
$104,000 was budgeted in 2017 for seal coating and crack filling this year.
Montour asked if more streets could be done since the cost was low and
there was quite a bit of money left in the $104,000 budget. The City
Administrator stated that he will have the Public Works Director explore
that possibility.
Montour introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOL UTION 2017-6-109 - AWARD THE 2017 SEAL COATING BID
TO ALLIED BLACKTOP FOR $0.939 PER SQUARE YARD AND
INSTRUCT THE PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR TO DO
ADDITIONAL SEAL COATING WITHIN BUDGETED AMOUNTS
IF THE CONTRACTOR IS AGREABLE.
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Fischer.
Aye (5).
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
PIONEER The Parks/Community Services Manager stated that the Spooner Park
PARK COURT tennis courts were recently resurfaced and dual striped for tennis and
RESURFACING pickleball. He noted many people are now using the courts for pickleball.
He explained that the remaining courts around the city were also budgeted
to be resurfaced this year, and the Parks & Recreation Commission
suggested the dual striping at the Pioneer Park tennis courts as well. He
noted that he received a bid from Lee Sports Surfacing for the Pioneer
Park courts for $15,750. He stated that only $7,500 was budgeted for the
Pioneer Park court resurfacing, but the City Administrator has stated that
the additional cost can be accommodated in the Capital Improvement
Fund since there will be some upcoming fund transfers.
McGraw stated that some dual sport courts have additional plugs on the
ground to hold the adjustable height nets level, and asked if that could be
done at Pioneer Park. The Parks/Community Services Manager stated that
he would ask the surfacing company to add them.
VA
