MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
MARCH 27, 2002
SOIL INFORMATION THAT IS FORTHCOMING, AND INSTRUCTING
THE CITYATTORNEY TO DRAFT THE APPROPRIATE ORDINANCE
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Montour.
Ayes (5) LaValle, Montour, Scalze, Anderson, Fahey.
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
RE7.ONING & Mayor Fahey opened the continuation of Public Hearing to consider the
AMENDMENT application for Rezoning from General Business (B-3) to Auto Oriented
TO CUP - Business (B-2) as well as an Amendment to an existing CUP to allow the
477 EAST construction of a 50 foot by 40 foot storage building at 477 Little Canada
LITTLE CANADA Road for Norm's Tire Sales. The Planning Commission recommended
ROAD - approval subject to compliance with the recommendations of the City
NORM'5 TIRES Planner.
The City Planner noted that additional information has been submitted since
the Planning Commission meeting that provides detail on the paving that will
be installed to the proposed storage building as well as addressing landscaping
and drainage.
Nick Strohbeen, Norn~'s Tires, appeared before the Council and described the
proposed building. He noted that it will be constructed with decorative
concrete block similar to that used on their office area. He noted that the color
of the building as well as the roof will match the existing building. The
windows shown in the doors on the proposed building will not be installed for
security reasons. Strohbeen indicated that the building will be used strictly for
storage purposes and there will be no work done from this building.
Scalze expressed concern about the future use of the property should the
ownership change. The City Planner indicated that any conditions placed on
the Conditional Use Permit would run with that permit regardless of any
changes in ownership.
Fahey stated that he would like to see a restriction on the CUP that there be no
auto or tine repair, or business operated from this bui]ding. The building would
be restricted solely to storage.
Strohbeen indicated that that was their intent and he would have no problems
with that restriction on the CUP.
Anderson asked if the new structure would meet the City's architectural
guidelines. The City Planner replied that it would.
