STAFF REPORT

TO: Parks & Recreation Commission
FROM: Joel Hanson, City Administrator
Bryce Shearen, Parks & Recreation/Comm. Services Mgr
DATE: September 28, 2017
RE: 2018 Capital Improvement Priorities

Attached to this memo is a listing of capital projects that were considered in the 2017 Budget
process. We have also supplemented this list with some possible new projects.

The numbered listing below represents your final ranking. The items in “red” were completed in
2017. The other items highlighted in similar colors were those we thought could be grouped due
to similarity of items from a purchasing perspective. Other items could also be grouped together,
but in most cases will not make purchasing more efficient. We have also updated the “new”
items portion of the listing based on last meeting’s discussion.

The overall listing is as follows:

1. Gervais Mill Park garden – $51,750
2. Pioneer Park – planting new trees by pond – $500 (Location for future Arbor
Day Ceremonies)
3.
