MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />OCTOBER 11, 2017 <br />the subscribers will be a decrease in the PEG fee. Mr. Bradley explained <br />that under the new agreement, fiends can be used for both operational <br />support and capital improvements. He noted that when the Council adopts <br />the ordinance, they should also include acceptance of the side letter from <br />Comcast. <br />Mr. Bradley reported that the North Suburban Communications <br />Commission is made up of nine member cities. Montour stated that from <br />the PEG fees, which stands for public educational government, CTV has <br />been able to have high quality educational facilities for the public to use <br />over the last 10 to 15 years, and this new agreement will have a 40% <br />reduction in fiinding. Mr. Bradley stated that the typical Comcast <br />subscriber has been paying about $6.00 per month for a PEG fee, and that <br />will go down to around $3.00. <br />Vanessa Van Alstine, Little Canada cable TV producer, stated that the city <br />is currently sending a standard definition signal to CTV. She explained <br />that in order to show the signal in high definition, CTV would need to do <br />some equipment upgrades. <br />There were no comments from the public. <br />Upon motion by Keis, seconded by McGraw, the public hearing was <br />closed. <br />Montour introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION 2017-10-182 —ADOPTING ORDINANCE 819, <br />GRANTING A CABLE FRANCHISE TO COMCAST OF <br />MINNESOTA, INC., AND ACCEPTING THE SIDE LETTER <br />SUBMITTED FROM COMCAST DATED A UGUST 1, 2017 <br />RELATING TO ADDITIONAL COMMITMENTS <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by McGraw. <br />Aye (5). <br />Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. <br />PRESENTATION — Ramsey County Commissioner, Mary Jo McGuire, stated that she is here <br />RAMSEY COUNTY to give the annual update on what is going on with the County. She <br />COMMISSIONER, reviewed the County's main goals, and the four department service areas. <br />MARY JO She stated that this year, the Commissioners have been working on the <br />MCGUIRE budget and the Comprehensive Plan update that is required in 2018 by the <br />Metropolitan Council. She wanted. to reinind the public that the Ramsey <br />County libraries have a lot of additional resources other than just books, <br />2 <br />
