MINUTES <br />PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION <br />October 5, 2017 <br />that are important to the Commission. He stated directional signage was a <br />project that was a priority identified through the survey. <br /> <br />The Community Services Manager reported Gilbertson Field <br />improvements would begin October 16. <br /> <br />The Community Services Manager reported the next Market Place <br />Morning Talk topic is Medicare – D on October 11, at 9:30 a.m. <br /> <br />The Community Services Manger reported the last Farmers Market would <br />be held Monday from 2:30 – 6:00 p.m. on October 9. <br /> <br />The Community Services Manager reported basketball registration is open <br />for grades three through eight. <br /> <br />The Community Services Manager reported square dancing classes are <br />every Thursday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and the program would run <br />through December. He noted the first class you attend is free. <br /> <br />The Community Services Manager reported senior exercise takes place <br />year round, every Wednesday and Friday from 1:30 – 2:30 p.m. at the Old <br />Fire Hall. <br /> <br />The Community Services Manager reported the Little Canada Elementary <br />School Pumpkin Carnival is October 28th from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.. <br /> <br />The Community Services Manager reported registration is open for Driver <br />Safety classes and the cost is $10 and you are eligible for a 10 percent <br />insurance discount. <br /> <br />The Community Services Manager reported the warming house has been <br />repaired substantially and will be ready for the winter season. He stated a <br />tree had fallen on the hockey rink fence and would be repaired soon. <br /> <br />The Community Services Manager reported the upper and lower shelters <br />at Pioneer Park would be stained and cannot be used for a week. He <br />explained he had waited to schedule this until the fall once renting slowed <br />so as not to interrupt. <br /> <br />The Community Services Manager reported SEH had suggested that the <br />visioning statement the Commission had tabled last month be changed to <br />read “Strengthens the historic, cultural, and natural resources of the <br />Community,” instead of using preserves. Darling made a motion to <br />change preserve to strengthens in the visioning statement. Horwath <br />seconded the motion. The Motion was unanimously approved. <br /> <br />OTHER <br />BUSINESS
