Resolution declared adopted. <br />1'E77T1ON POR the Council reviewed a petition requesting that the speed limit on Edgerton <br />SPE~IJ~D S'YUDY Street be lowered to 30 miles per hour as well as requesting Che addition of <br />AND STOP stop signs at two block intervals along >/dgerton. Council reviewed staffs <br />SIGNS ON recommendation which points out that Edgerton Street is a County Road, <br />I;llGI;RTON and it is unlikely that the County will reduce the speed limit. The County <br />STR1i,1JT would request that MN DOT conduct a speed study on ldgerton, and <br />recommendations for speed limits are usually based on the average speeds that <br />traffic travels along a road. The result, therefore, could be an increased speed <br />limit on >/dgerton Street Staff's report also indicated that stop signs are not <br />intended to be used as speed control devices. <br />Scalze noted Chat in the past the City has had a difficult time in getting speed <br />limits reduced on County roads. }lather than Che City making such a request, <br />past experience has shown that when citizens make these requests directly to <br />their County Commissioner, the requests have been more successful- <br />Eric Weisman, 2441 Edgerton, asked about more enforcement on Edgerton <br />Street. <br />The City Administrator reviewed a report from the Ramsey County Sheritl's <br />Department relative Co h~aHic speeds that were gathered within a 24-hour <br />period. That information shows that less than 2% of the traffic traveling on <br />
