MINUTES
CITY CODNCIL
JUNE 2G, 2002
and leave it to be repaired. Once repaired, the boat would be stored in the
outdoor storage area until it is picked up by its owner. There would be no
stacking of these boats.
Scalze expressed concern with the flexibility that is being requested on
screening requirements. Fahey stated that his position was that this
storage would be subject to the same screening requirements as any other
outdoor storage in the City.
Johnson presented some additional pictures showing views of the property
from various locations.
Scalze felt the development and use of the site has been good, and noted
that what is being requested is a major change. .iohnson felt it was an
acceptable change.
Fahey indicated that if the rezoning and outdoor storage are approved,
there will have to be compliance with the City's screening requirements
that is consistent with how other property owners have been treated.
I{Ioskin indicated that they are willing to cooperate with the City.
Scalze questioned Kloskin's plans for gated access to the outdoor storage
area. Fahey stated that he assumes there will be only one gate at the
southern end of the property. Klosl<in stated that roe may have two gates,
one being a pedestrian gate adjacent to the building,
Montour stated that he has been struggling with the outdoor storage aspect
of this business. Montour indicated that he feels more comfortable with
the business if the boats that are being stored are there because they are
either waiting to be repaired or waiting to be picked up by their owners.
Kloskin indicated that that is the sihiation with the boats and pointed out
that the service and repair business is a large part of his operation.
Montour asked about the limitation of 75 boats that was recommended by
the Plamiing Commission. I{loskin felt that the number should not be a
concern as long as the area is properly screened. I{loskin pointed out that
the area cannot be just filled with boats since there needs to be
maneuvering area. 1{loskin also indicated that they self 70 to 90 pontoons
per year and these will be delivered to the site and stored in the storage
area until their new owners pick them up.
Scalze questioned how the outdoor storage aspect can be controlled given
that these boats and pontoons will be sitting on the property until spring.
b
