MIN UT~S
CITY COUNCIL,
AUGUST 14, 2002
Business (R-[3) or a (vledium Density i-i<,uasing (R-2) zoning may be more
appropriate.
Dorn asked about the City AdminisU~ator's comments in his report relative
to improving Jackson Street (o a 9-ton standard. The Ciey Administrator
reported that his Yhou~a,hts were that if the road is improved, it would only
need to be a 9-ton standards up to the southern edge of the Poolside access
drive. Jackson Street further south could be maintained as a single lane.
Dorn stated that he ~n~ould support Poolside's Jackson SheeC access as exit
only, no left turns. I~ie also requested that Poolside's Little Canada Road
sign be removed.
Fahey asked the frequency of small tracts using Jackson Sheet. Dorn
replied that they use the street all the time and park on the road. Dorn
pointed out that after the Iasi meeting ~a~hen Rob Anderson indicated to the
Council that semi tract, do not block Jad<son Street, the next day there
was a semi trud< blocking Jadaon.
Shoman commen[ed that he ~a~as sure Mr. Anderson would agree to a
sharpened radius fbr [he. Jaclaon Stree[ access point as well as designating
the access as right-turn only. I~lo~ncver, Poolside is a commercial business
in a commercial area and should be allowed to use Jackson Street as long
as road restrictions are adhered to.
Montour suggested that Mr. Anderson could require his employees to
access the Poolside site via C~bunty Road C.
Fahey also suggested that the Cify could post Jackson Street as having no
semi tract: h'aflic. IIo~~-ever, he did not think it was unreasonable to allow
small vans on Jacksim Sheet ~~iven the area is zoned commercial. Fahey
suggested if Poolside abused restrictions imposed on Jackson Street, the
City could require thorn to cJuse (I~ieir Jadson Street access.
Stroman re~.>orted that one of the reasons for the addition is to get all
Poolside employees under one roof. Doing this and eliminating die leased
space on the other side ol'Jadaon Sheet will eliminate a lot of back and
forth U~at~Ta
Dorn pointed out that the area ~a~as zoned residential and the homes in
existence prior fo Poolside y~rhilc he understands the area is now
commercial, the chamc ~n~as f<n~ced on the residential homes.
Fahey agreed that the homes may have been there tirst, but ~~ointed out
that the present o~a~ncrs hou~~ht their homes ,fifer the zoning change and
6
