MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />OCTOBER 29, 2018 <br />The Parks & Recreation/Community Services Manager stated that based on <br />feedback from the Parks & Recreation Commission and staff members, staff <br />is recommending that the age 5-12 play structure be the `Bayou' color <br />palette and the age 2-5 play area be the `Shine' color palette. He noted that <br />with the grade and ADA accessibility issues, other site work will need to be <br />done, such as site preparation, new concrete container, sidewalk and trail <br />work, and a safety surface, along with the playground installation costs. He <br />explained that these costs are yet to be finalized, but are to be $175,000. He <br />stated that staff plans for this project to start in the spring of 2019. <br />The Parks & Recreation/Community Services Manager explained that <br />$285,000 has been budgeted for the entire project from the General Capital <br />Improvement Fund with $140,000 from the 10% FUND being transferred <br />into the General Capital Improvement Fund to offset the cost. <br />Dave Miller, Chair of the Parks & Recreation Commission, stated that they <br />have been working on the playground plan since spring 2017, but put it on <br />hold in order to complete the Parks Master Plan and be able to have a vision <br />of having a better playground. <br />McGraw asked if there was anything that the Commission wishes they could <br />have. Mr. Miller stated that they toured several Minneapolis Parks, but due <br />to their budget, they opted to keep the playground about the same size in <br />order to not impede Canadian Days, and maybe do the bigger playground at <br />Pioneer Park where there is more room. <br />Montour introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTIONNO. 2018-10-224- ACCEPT THE GRANT AWARD <br />FROM GAMETIME IN THE AMOUNT OF $84,205 FOR THE <br />PURCHASE OF NEW PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT FOR SPOONER <br />PARK AND A UTHORIZE PAYMENT FOR THE BALANCE OF THE <br />EQUIPMENT COSTS UP TO $107,875.25 <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by McGraw. <br />Ayes (5). <br />Nays (0). Resolution adopted. <br />2019-2021 The City Administrator stated that the Ramsey County Sheriff s Department <br />AGREEMENT FOR has submitted the three-year agreement to provide law enforcement services <br />RAMSEY COUNTY to the City of Little Canada for the period from January 1, 2019 through <br />LAW December 31, 2021. He noted that the budgets are adopted annually, but the <br />ENFORCEMENT overall contract is for a three-year time period. <br />SERVICES <br />14 <br />
