<br /> <br /> STAFF REPORT <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />TO: Parks & Recreation Commission <br /> <br />FROM: Bryce Shearen, Parks & Recreation/Community Services Manager <br /> <br />DATE: November 30, 2018 <br /> <br />RE: Community Survey Summary <br /> <br />In August 2018, 400 randomly selected Little Canada households were sampled via telephone <br />interview. It took an average of 24 minutes to respond to the 120 question survey. <br /> <br />According to the survey consultant, The Morris Leatherman Company, there was a lot of positive <br />changes since the previous survey that was conducted in 2011. <br /> <br />Overall highlights from the survey: <br />• 92 percent of survey respondents indicated the City of Little Canada was headed in the right <br />direction. <br />• 88 percent of survey respondents felt a strong sense of community in Little Canada. <br />• 96 percent of survey respondents felt that the quality of life was favorable in Little Canada. <br /> <br />Parks & Recreation highlights: <br />• 83 percent of survey respondents felt that recreation programs for children were excellent or <br />good. <br />• 85 percent of survey respondents felt that recreation programs for adults were excellent or <br />good. <br />• 96 percent of survey respondents rated the maintenance and upkeep of parks and trails <br />excellent or good. <br />• 91 percent of survey respondents feel that the current mix of city-sponsored recreational <br />programs meets the needs of members of their household. <br />• 71 percent of survey respondents do not think the City needs more meeting room space. <br />• 69 percent of survey respondents do not think the City needs an outdoor community <br />gathering space, but 83 percent would support a property tax increase provide a community <br />gathering space. <br />• 31 percent of survey respondents are not willing to see their property taxes increase for a <br />bond referendum for parks, trail, and playground enhancements. <br /> <br />Please review the documents that are available on the City’s website at <br />cityof.lc/CommunitySurvey2018. Staff will go over the pertinent <br />information of the survey that relates to Parks & Recreation at the meeting.
