STAFF REPORT
TO:Mayor Keis and Members of City Council
FROM:Heidi Heller, City Clerk
DATE:December 14, 2018
RE:2019 Parks & Recreation Commission Appointments
2019 Parks & Recreation Commission Chair Appointment
The terms of office for Tom Ray and Peter Schletty will expire on December 31, 2018. At this
time, there are two 3-year terms on the Parks & Recreation Commission to fill.
The City has received letters requesting reappointments from Tom Ray and Peter Schletty.
Letters of interest was also received from Michael Mui.
The Parks & Recreation Commission Interview Committee consisted of Mayor Keis, Parks &
Rec/Community Services Manager Shearen, P a r k s C o m m i s s i o n C h a i r M i l l e r and City
Administrator Heineman. The consensus of the Interview Committee is that Tom Ray and Peter
Schletty should be reappointed to 3-year terms and the letter of interest submitted b y Michael
Mui should be kept on file in the event of a future Commission vacancy. The Council will need
to decide if they agree with this recommendation.
Please also note that the Parks & Recreation Commission Ordinance calls for the Mayor to make
a recommendation for Parks & Recreation Commission Chair. Mayor Keis will make that
recommendation at Wednesday’s meeting, with the Council making the actual appointment. The
Commission will select their own Vice Chair at their first meeting in January.
