MINUTES <br />Parks & Recreation Commission <br />May 1, 2008 <br />TRAIL AND <br />SIDEWALK <br />SYSTEM <br />St. John's Church. <br />Chairperson Davis requested all commissioners to rank the twelve proposed trail projects <br />as to their priority for completion. The priority results of the trails are as follows: <br />1.) Country Drive and South Owasso Loop to Waterworks Trail <br />2.) Waterworks Trail/Little Canada Road to Sextant <br />3.) Little Canada Road/Centerville Road to Edgerton Street <br />4.) North/South Connection- Middle Street to Troutbrook <br />5.) Sunset Court/Turnquist Wetland Trail to Boardwalk <br />6.) Rice Street Trail <br />7.) 35E Pedestrian Brie at Demont Street <br />8.) Labore Road/Desoto Street to County Road D <br />9.) Centerville Road/County Road D <br />10.) Waterworks Trail/Railroad Crossing <br />11.) Powerline Trail/Payne Avenue to Pioneer Park <br />12.) County Road B2, Viking Drive, Demont Connections <br />LIGHTING <br />Maida stated he enjoyed driving around to the different proposed trail sights so he could become <br />more familiar with the specifications of each trail He asked Morelan if the city had a priority <br />listing for the timing of the construction for these trails. Morelan stated that the ranking might <br />be based upon the availability of funding. He stated that the Xcel Energy surcharge has been <br />placed in the capital improvement fund and partially earmarked for trail improvements. <br />Davis asked if there was any grant funding for these proposed trails. Morelan will check into <br />any funding available for any project implementation. Davis talked about the proposed <br />pedesh~ian bridge over Highway 36. This is a project that is part of the Gateway Trail so is also <br />being looked at by the National Park Service. <br />Neis asked if there is a problem with property owners with the Waterworks Trail. Morelan <br />stated there might still be a problem with that but thought the boardwalk around the pond is <br />being used quite extensively now. <br />Morelan commented that the bids for the lighting for the Spooner Park Tennis Courts and the <br />Old Fire Hall Hockey Rink were opened on Apri129.
