MINUTES <br />Parks & Recreation Commission <br />September 6, 2001 <br />that due to the timing, it may be wise to wait until next year for this project. A cost <br />savings could result if it is combined with other projects. <br />• Water Works Trail Connection -This connection is in - it was paved a week ago. <br />Neighbors are happy with it. <br />• Gervais Mill Park Entrance- This project is finished. <br />• Pump House Restoration -This project is ongoing. Completion will occur before <br />winter. <br />BUDGET The Director reviewed each line item of the General Capital hnprovement Budget. He <br />indicated that the Council is planning to review the budget next Wednesday night and would <br />like the Commission's input. He also stated that budget amounts for unfinished work in 2001 <br />will be transferred to 2002. <br />Sanders commented that on page 2 of the budget, the Releaf Grants are actually 50/50, not <br />80/20. He also stated that the T21 is 80/20. The Director stated that he woLild pass that <br />information on to our Accounting Supervisor. <br />Sackett Glaser noted that the Round Lake amenities are not included on the list. The <br />Director stated that those items are being funded in the Little Canada Road reconstruction <br />budget. <br />Sackett Glaser asked if something has been budgeted for the ongoing maintenance of the <br />trails. The Director stated that Public Works has included trail maintenance in their budget. <br />Schabacker asked when Jackson Street is scheduled to be repaved. He was wondering when <br />the trail in that area will be completed. The Director stated that the Public Works Director <br />has all streets on a maintenance schedule, but the Director was unsure of Jackson Street's <br />placement on that list. <br />Schabacker commented that the final lift of bituminous on Little Canada Road was placed <br />today on the north side of the street. <br />RECREATION The Director reported on the following items: <br />REPORT <br />• A representative from the Wally Olson Band contacted the Director regarding perforniing <br />at next year's Concerts in the Park. He stated that they did perform in Little Canada a <br />few years ago, but the turn-out was not very favorable. <br />• A flyer on the basketball league/fall gymnastics registration was distributed to the <br />Commission. Registrations for these activities are being accepted through September 13. <br />• Registrations are being accepted for the following adult activities -senior exercise and <br />55 alive driving classes. <br />• A dog obedience group has been using the skating rink on Little Canada Road. They <br />have been charged a fee for use of the facility and lights. <br />• The shelters have been repainted this summer. Also, the overhead doors on the park <br />maintenance buildings have been improved from a safety standpoint. <br />Page 2 of 4 <br />
