Resolution declared adopted.
LaValle reported that he has had two requests for a bus shelter at Park Street
and Demont Avenue. The City Administrator indicated that Metro Transit
would be contacted with this request.
Council reviewed proposed parks and recreation program fees for the
year 2002. It was noted that the Parks & Recreation Commission has
recommended approval of these fees as proposed.
Anderson expressed concern that percentage increases for children's programs
and activities was much higher than the percentage increases for adult
activities. Anderson suggested there should be more of a cost shifting to the
adult activities.
Scalze noted that the City has tried to make the programs pay for themselves as
closely as possible. She stated that it was difficult to look at that this evening
given that the Council does not have the program expense report.
Montour noted that the fees shown are not the actual fees given that LCRA
provides a subsidy of children's program fees that is not provided to adult
activities. The City Administrator also noted that LCRA also provides a
scholarship program to those who cannot afford the fees.
Montour also noted that there is a little more subsidy provided to the higher
participation programs, therefore, it is analyze the program fees looking solely
at percentage increases.
13
