MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
DECLMBER 19, 2001
position is that the alternative will be a rezoning, Fahey pointed out that
another option would be the purchase of the Anderson property and a
combined townoffice development. T'he Anderson property would allow for
Rice Street access without the need for pond relocation.
The City Planner pointed out that on a square footage basis, the townoffice
concept generates less traffic than would a residential development. Anderson
asked the number of townhomes that would be permitted on this property,
pointing out that the townoffice proposal calls for 14 units.
Tom Duray reported that on June 13, 2000, the City Council approved the
concept of six two-unit townhomes For this site, which totals 12 residential
units. Duray also pointed out that the access issue was a major point of
discussion at the Planning Commission meeting. Duray reported that Mr.
Anderson informed him that since Montanari I-tomes has put up their sign
advertising townoffices, he has had a couple of dozen inquiries himself
Mohammed Fruki, Park Street resident, thanked the Council for the close
scrutiny of this matter. He pointed out the letter the Council has received Prom
`fodd Phillips, another Park Street resident, and noted that the neighborhood's
concern is additional traffic that the townoffices would generate onto Park
Street,
It was the consensus of the Council to continue consideration of this matter
pending a recommendation from the Watershed on the issue of pond relocation
to facilitate Rice Street access. Fahey noted that the Council will table action
on this matter provided that Montanari Homes is agreeable to waiving the 60-
day requirement to allow the Watershed to review the matter and make a
recommendation.
