Resolution declared adopted.
ACCOUNTING The Mayor and Council welcomed Tina Hix as the City's new Accounting
SUPERVISOR Supervisor.
SETBACKS Morelan suggested that the Council take a look at setback requirements for
properties abutting parcels of land which will never be developed, such as
the Water Works property, railroad property, freeway property. Morelan
suggested that there may be reason to reduce the setbacks in these areas
given that the adjacent property will never be developed.
The Council discussed the suggestion, and Pedersen pointed out that the
possibility of additional freeway lanes that would impact Morelan's
suggestion about reducing setbacks along these areas. Fahey agreed that
freeway right-of--way was different than railroad property or the Water
Works property given the potential for widening the freeway, and
suggested that the setback not be reduced for properties abutting the
freeway.
Scalze stated that she was concerned with decreasing the setbacks in
certain situations given the fairness and consistency issue. Scalze felt that
if setbacks are not causing a problem, then the requirements should be left
as is. Scalze pointed out that problems arise with the issue of setbacks
when someone is trying to build a structure that is too big for the lot.
