MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
AUGUST 23, 2000
UPDATE The County will absorb the majority of the increased cost of the
bituminous wear course.
Mr. Morelan introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOI UTION N0.2000-8-199 -APPROVING CHANGE ORDER NO.
I FOR THE LITTLE CANADA IMPROVEMENT PROJECT AS
RECOMMENDED BY THE CITYADMINISTRATOR
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Fahey.
Ayes (5) Morelan, Fahey, Pedersen, LaValle, Scalze.
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
The City Administrator reported that in return for granting a drainage
easement for the Little Canada Road project, Cedars Lakeside is
requesting that athree-foot water level be maintained in the drainage
pond. The Administrator reported that in order to maintain that water
level it may be necessary to flush a hydrant into the pond periodically.
Cedars Lakeside is also requesting installation of a fountain so that the
water in the pond is not stagnant. The Administrator reported that he has
obtained cost estimates for a fountain, and the cost will range from $4,000
to $7,500. Cedars Lakeside has agreed to pay the electrical costs
associated with operating the fountain.
Morelan agreed that a fountain would be a nice amenity for the area. He
asked whether it would be advantageous to put in a well to maintain the
water level in the pond. The City Administrator suggested that the City
begin with the flushing option to maintain water levels in the pond. If this
does not work out, other options could then be explored.
Mrs. Scalze introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOL UTION N0. 2000-8-200 -APPROVING THE DRAINAGE
AND UTILITYEASEMENT BETWEEN THE CITYAND CEDARS
LAKESIDE RELATED TO THE LITTLE CANADA ROAD
IMPROVEMENT PRO.IECT AS RECOMMENDED 73Y THE CITY
ADMINSTRATOR AND AS REDRAFTED I3Y THE CITY ATTORNEY
AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITYADMINISTRATOR
TO EXECUTE THE EASEMENT ON 73EHALF OF THE CITY OF
LITTLE CANADA
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Morelan.
Ayes (5) Scalze, Morelan, Fahey, Pedersen, LaValle.
Nays (0).
