These parents
expressed concern that there was no parent involvement in the decision.
Scalze suggested that the matter be referred to the Parks & Recreation
Commission for a recommendation.
The Parks & Recreation Director reported that based on the Council's
direction at the last meeting he has proceeded with combining the City's
program with the fastpitch association. He noted that the issue raised at
the Council meeting was that of identity, and he is working with the
association to address that concern. The Director suggested that a solution
to the identity issue would be to rename the association to a generic name
pointing out that there are girls from approximately four cities that
participate in the program through this association.
