MINUTES CITY COUNCIL SEPTEMBER 13, 2000 WORKS GARAGE STUDY AS RECOMMENDED 73Y THE PU73LIC WORKS DIRECTOR The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Scalze. Ayes (5) Morelan, Scalze, Fahey, LaValle, Pedersen. Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. PARK The Council reviewed the policy/procedure recommended by the Parks NAMING & Recreation Commission for naming park property within the City. It POLICY was noted that a similar procedure was used in the past when Pioneer Park was named. LaValle pointed out that there may be a source of funding for development of the Jackson Street park, and that may be a factor in considering what to name the park, Mrs. Scalze introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 2000-9-2I6 -ADOPTING THE PARK POLICY/PROCEDURE FOR NAMING CITY PARK PROPERTYAS RECOMMENDED 73Y THE PARKS` & RECREATION COMMISSION The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by LaValle. Ayes (5) Scalze, LaValle, Pedersen, Fahey, Morelan. Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. FASTPITCH Scalze reported that she was approached by some parents who were upset PROGRAM with the Council's recent decision to combine Little Canada's fastpitch program with the Roseville Girls Fastpitch Association. These parents expressed concern that there was no parent involvement in the decision. Scalze suggested that the matter be referred to the Parks & Recreation Commission for a recommendation. The Parks & Recreation Director reported that based on the Council's direction at the last meeting he has proceeded with combining the City's program with the fastpitch association. He noted that the issue raised at the Council meeting was that of identity, and he is working with the association to address that concern. The Director suggested that a solution to the identity issue would be to rename the association to a generic name pointing out that there are girls from approximately four cities that participate in the program through this association.
