MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />SEPTEMBER 27, 2000 <br />improvements. Scalze pointed out that interior improvements increase the <br />valuation of a building as well as the City's tax base. <br />Morelan felt that not requiring exterior improvements in this case looks <br />like the City is exempting Gopher Electronics from the architectural <br />review guidelines. <br />Pedersen felt that if there were serious defects in a building that would be <br />another issue. He noted that this is not the case with the Gopher <br />Electronics building. <br />Mr. Fahey introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />RESOI, UTION NO. 2000-9-227 -ACCEPTING THE <br />RECOMMENDATION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION AND <br />THE CITY PLANNER WITH REGARD TO ARCHITECTURAL <br />REVIEW FOR THE GOPHER ELECTRONICS BUILDING AND <br />REQUIRING NO EXTERIOR IMPROVEMENTS TO THE <br />7UILDING AT THIS TIME I3A,SED ON THE LIMITED NATURE OF <br />THE WORK BEING PERFORMED AND TIIE FACT THAT THE <br />MAJORITY OF IMPROVEMENTS PROPOSED ARE INTERIOR <br />IMPROVEMENTS <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Scalze. <br />Ayes (4) Fahey, Scalze, LaValle, Pedersen. <br />Nays (1) Morelan. Resolution declared adopted. <br />CUP & The City Administrator pointed out that the Code Enforcement Officer's <br />VARIANCE - report on the original CUP for 182 Ryan Lane indicates that there should <br />182 RYAN LANE - be no outdoor storage within 10 feet of the rear and side lot lines for this <br />JANIS EVANS property. Therefore, the Administrator recommended that the new site <br />plan be revised accordingly. <br />Scalze pointed out that this requirement was made of every property in <br />Ryan Industrial Park. <br />Evans indicated that many of the things being stored in these areas are <br />owned by renters of her property. She indicated that they would be <br />cleared from the 10-foot area. <br />Morelan pointed out that the fence in front of the building is closer to the <br />property line than 40 feet. He indicated that given that outdoor storage <br />cannot occur within 40 feet of the front yard property line, it will be an <br />
