Resolution declared adopted.
LITTLE The City Administrator reported that he has quotes for the fountain
CANADA ROAD work near Lakeside Apartments and Round Lake that is scheduled as
IMPROVEMENT park of the Little Canada Road improvement. The Council discussed
whether or not the fountain should have lighting, and it was the consensus
of the Council that it should. It was noted that Lakeside Apartments had
requested the fountain in exchange for an easement they granted as part of
the Little Canada Road improvement project. Lakeside has agreed to
provide the electricity to the fountain as well as regulate the controls and
hours of operation.
Mr. Fahey introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 2000-10-24H -ORDERING THE INSTALLATION
OF THE FO UNTAIN AS PART OF THE I.ITTI E CANADA ROAD
IMPROVEMENTINCLUDINGELECTRICAI. WORK NECESSARY
TO PROVIDE LIGHTIN~i TO THE FOUNTAIN BASED ON THE
INFORMATION PROVIDED 13Y THE CITYADMINISTRATOR
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Scalze.
Ayes (5) Fahey, Scalze, Morelan, Pedersen, LaValle.
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
Council discussed the western-most curb cut for The Venetian Inn
property along Little Canada Road. It was noted that The Venetian has
requested a curb cut 45 feet from the intersection of Rice Street. The
Code would require 60 feet. The Administrator reported that The
Venetian Inn feels that requiring the curb cut at 60 feet would create a
hardship for their property as it doesn't align with current parking
configurations or traffic flows.
Morelan asked what the rational was for requiring a 60 foot distance from
the intersection to the curb cut.
It was noted that prior to Little Canada Road being improvement, The
Venetian's property along Little Canada Road was open and there was no
curbing designating curb cuts.
Morelan felt that the 60-foot distance was a safety requirement for traffic
flow and turning movements.
12
