Sanders stated that concrete <br />could be used for the walkway along the road and asphalt could be used for the meandering <br />path down by Round Lake. <br />Schabacker reconzznended that concrete be used for the walkway on t{ze south side o/Little <br />Canada Road between Lakeside Apartments azzd Market Place Drive. <br />Motion seconded by Gray. <br />Motiozz carried 6 - 0. <br />The Commission felt that monuments and bollards should be the priority for funding. <br />Optional items would include benches, planters, trash receptacles, and ornamental railings. <br />CIP BUDGET The City Administrator stated that there were some changes to the Commission's budget <br />recommendations. Staff decided that a T21 grant should be applied for to pay for all of the <br />trail connections instead of spreading out the funding over several years. It's unsure if the <br />City will receive this fw~ding, but staff felt that we should try. Funding for these connections <br />was moved to 2004. <br />The Jackson Street park funding was also changed. In 2001, grading, excavating, drainage, <br />sodding, and planting will be funded. In 2002, the trails, concrete wall, bridge, basketball <br />court, and gazebo will be installed. In 2003, the play area will be constructed. Donations <br />may be obtained to help fwrd the play area. In this case, the play area may be able to be <br />finished earlier. <br />The City Administrator stated that $10,000 for a graded, gravel trail connection from Jackson <br />Street to the Water Works property was left in the 2001 budget. It was felt that this <br />connection was very urgent due to the hazardous grade. Sanders felt that a detailed survey <br />should be taken of the area prior to completing the connection. <br />Gray recommended that staff proceed wit/z ordering a detailed survey for the trail <br />connectimz from Jackson Street to the Water Works Trail. <br />Motion: secazded by Schabacker. <br />Motion carried 6 - 0. <br />The City Adminisri~ator stated that he would like to have the Commission's recommendation <br />on how to proceed with acquiring land to complete the City's trail system. Anderson felt that <br />City staff should talk to individual landowners first and then hold public meetings. Staff <br />could begin with the easiest targets first or ones where timing is essential such as NSP and <br />Masterpiece Homes. <br />Page 3 of 5 <br />
