Don Carley appeared and he was questioned <br />by the Council as to the condition of the si;reets in the Hendry Addi- <br />tion. Hs explained that his father i.s on a vacation and he himself <br />was not in fu1.l possession of the facts relating to this pa..rticular <br />area. Mrs. Mullaney a.nd some of the other citizens present engaged <br />in further discussion about the streets atYd in order to bring the <br />matter to a. close the Council decided to have the engineer give a <br />thorough report on the sub,~ect. i7pon motion by Nadeau, seconded by <br />Spooner, it was <br />"RESOLVED, That the tlilltage Engineer be and is <br />hereby instructed. to give to the Council a complete, <br />detailed report on tL1.l work that has been recommended <br />on the streets in Hendry Addition and. also what part <br />of that work. has been commenced, what has been cornet <br />pleted, and what remains yet to be finished, and <br />also that the engineer malre recommendations in the <br />light of tJae present controversy about surfacing <br />drivet~~a.ys up to the property line." <br />Ayes - 3 Nays - 0 <br />The resolution was adopted. <br />The clerk read a letter from M.r. Ca.r7.ey, village engineer, <br />in response to th.e matter of placing signs in the Hendry Ad.c7ition <br />area cautioning automobile drivers to tra.t,ch out for children, Mr. <br />Carley's recommendation is that speed lim].t siF:;ns be placed at stra® <br />tegic and that them speed laws be enforced rather than to place <br />si~>;ns about simply saying, "C~Ja.tch for Children~~. Upon motion by <br />Nadeau, aeconc7ed by Spooner, it was <br />"RESOLVED, That the vi']_lage engineer be and is <br />hereby instructed to place 20 m.p.h. speed siians i.n <br />the resic7.ential. streets in Hendry Addition at such <br />strategic points as he deems proper." <br />Ayes - 3 Nays - 0 <br />The r~lution. vaas adopted, <br />- 3 - <br />
