Nadeau moved to <br />adopt <br />ORDINANCE ~f11 <br />AN ORDINANCE GRANTING PERMISSION TO NORTHERN <br />STA'T'ES POWER COMPANY, A MINNESOTA CORPORA- <br />TION, ITS SUCCESSORS AND ASSIGNS, TO ERECT <br />A GAS PLANT, AND TO USE THE STREETS, ALLEYS, <br />AND PUBLIC GROUNDS OF SAID VILLAGE FOR THE <br />PURPOSE OF INSTALLING, ENLARGING, OPERATING, <br />REPAIRING, AN17 MAINTAINING IN THE VILLAGE <br />OF LITTLE CAN.AI7A, MINNESOTA, THE NF-,CESSARY <br />GAS PIPES, MAINS, AND APPURTENANCES FOR THE <br />FURNISHING OF GAS TO SAID VILLACxE AND ITS <br />INHABITAN'T'S, AND OTHERS, AND "I'RANSIV[ITTING <br />GA5 INTO ANll THROUGI-T SAID VILLAGE, <br />Vitale seconded the motion. There being no further discussion, <br />the Mayor ordered the clerk to call the roil. 'T'he roll being call- <br />ed, there were Ayes I~-, and Nays 0, as follows: <br />Mayor L. W. Vitale Ayz <br />So the Ordinance was adopted. <br />Mr. William Shoved , State Representative of the l~lst <br />District, was present and asked for an opportunity to review with <br />the Council pending legislation that might affect the village. He <br />stated that he had introduced the bill authorizing the county to <br />sell matzrials to the village through the county engine errs office <br />and that he and Mr. Karth had succeeded in getting that bill out <br />of committee and on to General Orders. He also indicated that he <br />is trying to bring about some action by the State Highway Department <br />t,o mzet the safety problem now existing at Highway #36 and McMenemy <br />Road. The Council informally discussed a number of other items <br />with Mr. Shovell. <br />Thz Clerk read a letter from Barry Bronson, County Engi- <br />neer, stating that the County Board had refused to install street <br />lights at McMenemy Road and Highway X736 and also that the County <br />had brought this problem to the attention of the Highway Department <br />and that the Highway Department had also refused to do anything. <br />This letter was received and placed on file. <br />The Clerk read a letter from the county engineerrs office <br />stating that the share of the Village of Little Canada in the gaso- <br />line tax allotment for Ramsey County this year is ~,ti1,076.69.
