MINUTES <br />PLANNING COMMISSION <br />SEPTEMBER 11, 2008 <br />Duray asked of O'Connell was agreeable to complying with the <br />recommendations of the City Planner. O'Connell replied that he was. <br />Mr. Duray recommended approval of the Conditional Use Permit for <br />outdoor storage of licensed and operable vehicles, insurance-totaled <br />vehicles, metal recycling bin, trash container, and covered tine storage for <br />Suburban Auto Body at 3172 Ryan Lane subject to compliance with the <br />recommendations of the City Planner and the Fire Marshal. <br />Motion seconded by Pechmann. <br />Motion carried 7 - 0. <br />CUPs AND Mr. Roger Lillemoen appeared before the Commission requesting the <br />VARIANCES - following for 180 Ryan Drive: <br />180 RYAN Conditional Use Permit to allow open and outdoor storage of <br />DRIVE - vehicles, boats, trailers, recreational vehicles, and storage/ <br />LILLEMOEN shipping containers; <br /> Conditional Use Permit for Major Auto Repair License; <br /> Variance from outdoor storage height limitations for recreational <br /> vehicles; <br /> Variance from screening requirements within the I-1 Zoning <br /> District. <br />Lillemoen reported that he and his two sons are in the business of repairing <br />and restoring old and collectable vehicles. He indicated that he is just <br />getting this business started. As a secondary business, Lillemoen indicated <br />that he would like to defray expenses by renting outdoor storage space for <br />vehicles, boats, trailers, and RV's. <br />Knudsen pointed out that outdoor storage must be accessory to the principle <br />business on the site. The Planner agreed, and noted that outdoor storage <br />would only be allowed to tenants of the building. The Planner indicated <br />that the only other option would be for an interim use permit allowing <br />outdoor storage on the site for another business located in Little Canada on <br />I-1 property. <br />The City Planner noted that under #4 of the applicant's initial submittal, he <br />indicated that the storage area would be used/rented out only by <br />owners/tenants in proportion to their occupancy. Mr. Lillemoen has now <br />indicated that he wished to rent outdoor storage space to individuals without <br />any building occupancy. <br />6- <br />
