January 2021 <br /> <br />CITY OF LITTLE CANADA <br />POSITION DESCRIPTION <br /> <br /> <br />Position Title: Rental Housing & Code Enforcement Coordinator <br />Department: Community Development <br />Accountable To: Community Development Director <br />Positions Supervised: None <br />Status: 20-hours/week, Non-Exempt <br />Salary: $24.35-$27.29 DOQ <br />Opening Date: Friday, January 29 <br />Closing Date: February 17th at 4:30pm <br />________________________________________________________________________ <br /> <br />PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION <br /> <br />Performs a variety of administrative and technical work in conducting inspections to ensure <br />compliance with the City’s rental housing, nuisance, zoning, and other codes. Performs <br />comprehensive inspections on residential properties to ensure compliance with existing city and <br />state codes and policies governing existing structures. <br /> <br />MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES <br /> <br />Rental Housing Inspections <br />• Directs and ensures an effective rental housing program is adhered to throughout the <br />community in a manner that provides for safe well-maintained housing for all residents. <br />• Administers the City’s rental housing licensing program, including conducting annual <br />inspections of multiple dwelling units. Prepares letters, inspection reports and court <br />orders as needed, and may appear in court to testify. <br />• Perform field inspections for various types of rental properties for compliance with the <br />rental housing licensing code. This includes inspecting interior, exterior and grounds of <br />properties and data entry of inspection results into computer system or mobile devices. <br />• Conducts inventory and an evaluation of the housing stock and neighborhood condition. <br />• Investigates citizen complaints related to rental properties and conducts housing <br />inspections related to the City’s rental licensing, nuisance, zoning and other codes. <br />• Monitor rental properties to detect and enforce license and code compliance. <br />• Works closely with outside administration of housing programs designed to rehabilitate, <br />maintain, and upgrade the City’s housing stock and deal with the issues of housing <br />conditions affecting single family, multiple family, and manufactured housing. <br /> <br />Code Enforcement <br />• Administers the City’s code enforcement program by investigating complaints of code <br />violations, preparing letters, notices and reports, maintaining files, advising property <br />owners of code requirements and enforcement procedures, and obtaining compliance. <br />• The code enforcement process may involve court proceedings and the preparation of <br />evidence.
