CODE ENFORCEMENT/ RENTAL HOUSING COORDINATOR JOB DESCRIPTION <br /> <br /> 2 <br />• Develops and ensures effective inspections and neighborhood service programs utilizing <br />education and incentives as well as legal action. <br />• Identifies inconsistencies in code provisions and recommends code revisions. Prepares <br />code revisions as assigned. <br />• Works with residents to heighten awareness of various code ordinances. <br />• Performs research and prepares written and oral reports, and other assignments, as <br />directed. <br />• Establishes and maintains working files. <br />• Informs the Community Development Director of any inspection related activities that <br />require immediate attention or action. <br />• Consults with the Sheriff’s Department and City Attorney, as necessary, to review and <br />evaluate appropriate legal remedies to gain compliance with codes and ordinances. <br />• Performs other duties as assigned or apparent. <br /> <br /> <br />KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES <br /> <br />• Knowledge of practices, principles, and techniques of effective code enforcement <br />principles. <br />• Knowledge of the state laws and local authorities as they apply to the position. <br />• Knowledge of housing codes and code enforcement. <br />• Knowledge of building and property maintenance codes. <br />• Ability to prepare, organize and maintain inspection field data, files and records. <br />• Ability to communicate orally; ability to produce effective presentations and reports <br />including research, synthesis of information, prepare text, graphs, charts and graphics. <br />Ability to write clearly, concisely and legibly. <br />• Ability to deal with timeframes and deadlines. <br />• Ability to analyze situations and information, formulate alternatives and use sound <br />judgment in drawing conclusions and making decisions. Ability to develop a course of <br />action and maintain momentum to reach successful conclusions to assignments within a <br />timely manner. <br />• Ability to handle threatening and stressful situations and effectively deal with the public. <br />• Ability to meet physical requirements to successfully complete field inspections. <br />• Ability to enforce the City code in a firm, tactful and impartial manner. <br />• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with elected officials, <br />city employees and the public. <br /> <br /> <br />MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS <br /> <br />• High School diploma or G.E.D. <br />• Ability to work well with the public. <br />• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing. <br />• Ability to work under minimal supervision and to be self-motivated. <br />• Efficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and mobile devices and <br />applications in the field. <br />• Must be able to successfully complete a background/reference check.
