Water can be pumped over the weir wall to drain the system during times of
maintenance.
• The OCS detail should be drawn closer to a real scale. The outlet pipe and draintile pipe are
shown at the same grade or higher than the inlet pipe but are actually 4’ lower. This makes it
difficult to visualize how the OCS operates. The sump on the upstream side of the weir should
be filled with concrete and the structure can be made so that there is no sump on the
downstream side.
• Change the treated timber to vinyl sheet pile for the transition from wet pond to filtration basin.
• There doesn’t appear to be a planting plan for the filtration basin. If this is indeed the case, the
filtration media should be modified to remove the 30% compost and only include 100% clean
sand. If plantings in the filtration media are proposed, keep the compost and include a low
maintenance planting plan in the plans.
• Construction notes should be added to the detail to ensure impermeable / clay soils are used to
separate the wet pond from the filtration basin. Permeable soils will lead to inadvertent pond
draining.
Street and Storm Plan/Profile
• Provide a ‘bump-in’ at the south end of Vanderbie as it approaches the Allen Avenue
intersection. This roadway construction would be 22’ face to face with an approximately tangent
of 100’. The taper to the bump in should occur after the two existing residential driveways on
the east side. Additionally, provide a ‘bump-in’ to 22’ at the trail crossing.
• A permit will be required from Ramsey County for Vanderbie street and utility construction
adjacent to and connecting to County Road D.
• Vanderbie: what is the plan with the existing catch basin at the intersection with County Road
D? This will need to be modified/reconstructed to fit the new pavement. (CG-107)
• Vanderbie: shift LP at Sta. 11+77 to get catch basins out of driveway entrances
• Vanderbie: are structures 5221/5222 intended to be sump structures? They have approximately
18” of sump depth deeper than pipe inverts and are visually depicted as sump structures. Either
remove the sumps if not being used for stormwater management or size the sump depth to
match the structure diameter. This comment applies to many catch basins that have a sump
elevation denoted in the storm structure table.
• General note: increase storm sewer linetype – it so small it gets lost underneath the curb lines
• Vanderbie: move catch basins 5223/5220 a few feet further north. As shown, will be too close to
pedestrian ramp curb tapers.
• The trail crossing at Vanderbie depicts asphalt between the sidewalk and street. This should be a
concrete pedestrian ramp.
• General note: any structures that need to be raised to the final lift of asphalt should be shown in
plan view (sanitary castings, gate valve boxes, etc.)
