In the interim, stubs will need a corporation stop and 1” line extended to the
surface for flushing. The lines will need to be removed after successful pressure and bacteria
testing and flushing. In future additions, the plugs will be removed and a new gate valve will be
installed. Include gate valve on southern side of the tee to accommodate future connections
and minimize water outages. Shift both sewer and water mains north ~2’ so future gate valves
are not in curblines. Apply this methodology to all watermain stubs and update valving
accordingly.
• General note: sewer services should be downstream of water services.
• General note: show hydrant valves in plan view as part of hydrant and valve assembly
• Sanitary sewer is 17’+ deep near Street 4. Include and detail sanitary sewer risers when service
depths are greater than 14’.
• General note: hydrant along Vanderbie should be offset 3’ from the sidewalk to ensure the
hydrant valve does not end up in the curb. There are locations where the hydrant is only 3’
behind the curb which could cause problems.
• Sheet CU-104: move hydrant in northwest quadrant of Allen Ave intersection so that hydrant
lead and valve aren’t in conflict with the storm sewer structure
• Sheet CU-104: no connection elevation is shown at existing sanitary sewer manhole. As visually
depicted, an outside drop will be required. Show and detail this work accordingly, including
reconstruction of the manhole bench and invert.
• Sheet CU-104: no information provided for size, type, and method of connection to the existing
watermain.
• Sheet CU-104: sewer and water connections within Allen Ave will undermine existing large-
diameter storm sewer – especially the deeper sanitary sewer. My guess is that the contractor
will need to remove/salvage and reinstall the storm sewer. Please consider this and make any
plan adjustments as necessary so that it is considered in advance versus a construction issue.
• Sheet CU-104 / Street H: sanitary sewer services will be in conflict with watermain between
stations 16+00 and 16+80. Providing addition sanitary sewer depth should eliminate the
conflicts.
• Sheet CU-104 / Street H: extend hydrant to 5’ behind curb – currently only 2’ behind curb and
hydrant valve will be in curb. It is difficult to tell from the plans what the proposed wall height is
here. Additional frost protection may be needed around the hydrant to prevent frost
penetration through the wall.
• Sheet CU-104 / Street H: extend sewer so that services do not require bends – manhole directly
behind the curb should suffice.
• Sheet CU-105 / Street H: No design roadway profile shown in profile view. Please add. Profile
view missing many utility components as well.
• Sheet CU-105 / Street H: sanitary sewer services to conflict with the watermain at crossing
between stations 10+25 through 11+50.
